Alexandra Shepard: A Night on the Town
Earth, New York City....
The streetlights give off a warm white glow as Alex and Miranda stroll arm and arm towards the multi-colored lights of the nightclub. Alex glances over at Miri, taking in the beauty grasping her arm. Miranda is clad in a slinky, crimson dress that hugs her frame tightly, showing off her curves. In contrast, Alex is dressed in a black tank-top under the N7 jacket with jeans. She gives Miranda's arm a playful squeeze. "I feel slightly underdressed Miri."
Miranda smiles back at her, staring deeply into those emerald eyes. "You look fine Alex. I thought we agreed to just have fun tonight. No worrying about the small things. Tonight is strictly for us."
Alex huffs out a breath, blowing her golden bangs out of her eyes. Miranda gives her a swift kiss to the cheek. "Come on. Let's go have some fun."
The purple and green sign of the nightclub reads Elysium. A large, bulky man stands in the doorway, arms crossed, a datapad in one hand. He holds up one large hand as they approach. "You on the list?"
Miranda flashes him a smile. "I don't think so, but maybe you could make an exception, for me?" She places a delicate hand on his arm, feeling the muscles.
Alex watches the bouncer's eyes roam over Miranda. She feels a stab of protective anger rush through her, but resists the temptation to act on those feelings. Miri, wouldn't want me to fight her battles.
The bouncer gives a curt nod of his head, opening the door for Miranda, who gracefully walks through. As Alex goes to follow, the bouncer places a hand out blocking her path. "Not you. You're not on the list. Beat it."
Alex's green eyes flash with annoyance at the bouncer, who blinks in surprise. "I'm going to ask only once. Move……please."
The bouncer's expression changes from confusion to anger and shoves her back. "Beat it, princess."
Shepard's moves like a bolt of lightning, closing the gap between her and the bouncer. Before he can react, she brings her hand up striking him in the throat. He gasps and staggers back clutching his throat. She leans in and whispers in his ear. "Should have listened to me. Now then, I'm going to go have a nice time with my girl in there. That alright with you?"
The bouncer coughs for a few seconds before nodding. Alex places a strong, firm hand on his shoulder, squeezing it…..hard. The bouncer winces in pain. Shepard smiles, a twinkle of playful malice in her eyes. "Thank you for being so understanding. You have a nice evening."
Releasing the man, Shepard calmly opens the door to reveal Miranda standing there, arms folded, a playful smirk on her face. "Tell me you didn't break the nice man out there?"
"I just had to get attention first, he was very nice after that."
Miranda shakes her head, chuckling. "You do have an unique way with people."
Alex wraps an arm around her waist. "I got your attention, didn't I?"
"Yes…..you certainly did, Alex."
She grasps Alex's hand, dragging her down the stairs, through the crowds of dancers, and over to the bar. Miranda sits down on one of the stools, swiveling to face the bartender. "I'll have two glasses of Dom Pérignon please."
Alex raises an eyebrow, "Wow, we really are going all out tonight aren't we?"
The bartender places the two sparkling glasses on the tabletop, sliding them carefully over to Miranda, who slips him a credit card. Miranda hands a glass to Alex, raising her own. "To us?"
Alexandra takes her glass and clinks it against Miranda's. "To the smartest person I know, not to mention the loveliest."
She notices a slight blush appear on Miri's perfect face. Alex smiles, "What? Am I embarrassing you?"
"You always know just what to say, don't you?"
"What can I say? I know how to push your buttons." She leans in and gives her a slow, sensual kiss. Miranda feels her face start to burn.
The hours pass by quickly. The pair leave the club, Alex supporting Miranda, who's had too much to drink. Miranda staggers in a zig-zag down the street to where they parked. She hums a little tune, completely off-key, Alex trying to keep her on her feet. She finally manages to get Miranda into the passenger's seat and buckled. Miranda leans her head back and passes out. Shepard leans in, brushes the long dark strands of her hair out of her face and places a kiss on her forehead.
Miranda mumbles something that Alex can barely make out as "I love you".
Shepard smiles to herself. "I know Miri. You rest sweetie, I'll get us home."
With that, she starts the engine and heads like a bat out of hell for home. She thinks to herself. Good thing she's asleep. She'd kill me for driving her car like this.
