Liara stares at herself in the mirror, the silky white dress hugging her slender frame. Kaycee's voice sounds from the bedroom, "Liara, sweetie? You almost ready? The babysitter will be here soon."

Liara sighs. "Are you sure this is such a good idea?"

She hears a chuckle from behind the door. "Really? That's what you're worried about? It'll be fine. It's not like she's never been around kids before."

"That's different. They were students, not our daughters."

She hears the click of the door opening, before Kaycee's arms wrap around her, chin on Liara's shoulder. Liara's eyes close as Kaycee places a kiss gent

Part Two:

Jack stands unsure in the doorway, watching both Shepard and Liara taking off in the dark blue car. She takes a deep breath, "Well, here goes nothing."

The sounds of shuffling footsteps reaches her ears. Turning she sees little Syren coming towards her, a dark brown teddy bear clutched tightly to her chest with both arms. She comes to stop right in front of Jack, looking up into her brown eyes with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. Suddenly she holds out the bear to Jack. "Well now, who's this?"

Syren doesn't say anything for a few seconds, but then quietly says, "Athena."
